Purpose

The Faculty Senate of Montgomery College is organized to promote the cause of education, to promote communication and understanding among the Faculty, Administration, and Board of Trustees, to achieve the highest possible degree of professional relations, and to assure procedures to allow members to have a voice in all matters of faculty interest.

Officers

President.  At Montgomery College, the role of the president of the Faculty Senate is to work closely with the president of the college, the chancellor of the district, and the Faculty Senate presidents of Kingwood College, North Harris College, Cy-Fair College, and Tomball College in order to promote communication and solid policies. The president will also perform the other duties listed in the constitution. The current president of the Montgomery College Faculty Senate is Craig Livingston. Livingston teaches history and was elected to office in Spring 2007.

Vice-President.  At Montgomery College, the role of the vice-president of the Faculty Senate is to take charge if the president is unable to fulfill his/her commitments.  The current vice-president of the Montgomery College Faculty Senate is Bill Geoghegan.  Geoghegan is a member of the Biotechnology Department and was elected to office in the Spring of 2007.

Secretary.  At Montgomery College, the role of the secretary of the Faculty Senate is to record and distribute senate-meeting minutes and maintain senate history.  Currently, the position of secretary of the Montgomery College Faculty Senate is unfilled. Adele Yung has volunteered to keep minutes. She is a non-voting secretary. The senate is grateful for her service.

Executive Board.  The Executive Board represents divisions, library, and counselors and is primarily charged with setting the agenda. Members are the president, vice president, secretary (non-voting at this time), Michael Sunderman (NaSH), Michael Hickey and Phil McCue (BASS), Denise Lorenz and Renee La Rue (BELS), and Habib Far (TEAM), Barbara Eckenfels (counselors) and Daniel Stevens (library).
